Hi, I’m Riley.
When I was in college, I finally started doing therapy with the UNR Counseling Services. Soon after I started, I fell in love with therapy. I appreciated having someone to talk to about relationships, anxiety, or any other emotional turmoil. I even started to enjoy spending my downtime when I wasn’t at work or school reading, watching specials or TED Talks, or listening to podcasts with therapeutic underpinnings. At that point in my life, I realized I did not want to follow through with the career I had originally gone to school for. So, I felt like I was wandering through life without a path forward. One day, it all sort of clicked. I realized my passion is working with the mind and body to increase a sense of peace within oneself and harmony in relationships.
This is what therapy offered me. So, I did research on what path to becoming a therapist would help me offer it to other people. That’s when I discovered that marriage and family therapy is an approach to therapy that considers not only the individual sitting across from me in the therapy room, but the bigger context they exist in. Now, as I hoped, I’ve witnessed therapy offer inner peace and relationship harmony to the individuals, couples, and families I work with.
Everyone is responsible for their own change. However, I am honored to help facilitate that change in any way.
My Approach
I work with individuals, couples, and families and help them overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship conflict. I take a collaborative approach to therapy because I believe that you know yourself best. I’m not the expert on you, you are the expert on you. What I will do is offer insight and skills that will make your existing strengths come up to the surface. With that knowledge and skillset, you will hopefully begin to overcome problems you’re facing.
